Despite all the big fuss on high end mobile phones and fancy operating systems, the general market still prefers to buy mobile phones in the mid to low range market. This is why there are still plenty of mobile devices being made for this tech tier. Enter the new series from Samsung, the Sharks.

They may look like your regular candy bar phones, but this series of devices come with some pretty impressive hardware specs, all packaged into a device that can be sold at a very reasonable price range. Today's focus in on the Samsung S5350 Shark, or simply the Shark One; the lineup currently consists of three devices number one to three. The Shark One delivers basic smart phone capabilities in an almost basic phone package.
Currently Known Details
Interestingly, this candy bar phone appears to be packed with plenty of connectivity options. Samsung describes the device as "unconventional" and "curvilinear"; though the form factor does look ordinary (the metallic finish is a nice touch though). Anyway, the phone's shape is pretty deceptive considering that it actually delivers many functions.
Not only can you use the 3G connection for browsing the web, but you can boot up the "Communities 1.0" application which apparently is a new social networking tool. As to whether it connects to existing networks or a standalone system still remains to be seen. Another feature that Samsung has not explained is the "Remember Memories" capability. There are even applications for instant messaging which will certainly make getting in touch a whole lot easier.
Screen and built in Camera
For a basic phone, the screen and the camera on this device are pretty good. The screen is your standard portrait oriented 2.2 inch TFT display. It has a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels which provides enough horizontal lines of resolution for reading long messages and viewing small text fonts.
With 256 thousand colors, you can get a good view of the images on your phone. It's a good match for the 3.2 mega pixel camera with auto focus capabilities. It does not have flash, but as long as you can get good lighting, that will not be an issue. Images can have a max resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels -perfect for small sized prints. Users can also take QVGA videos at 15 FPS.
Additional Features
Having the Samsung S5350 Shark around will keep you entertained for hours on end thanks to its media playback capabilities (aside from being able to go online). The phone supports music file formats such as MP3, WAV, eAAC+, and WMA. For videos, the phone supports MP4, H.263, H.264, and WMV files. You will not need to worry about spending all day listening to tunes on the phone; the 900 mAh lithium ion battery may not be high capacity, but it will the device running for up to 450 hours on standby on a full charge. Use it on a voice call and you'll get over 3 hours on a 3G network call.
